Wearable Art is a big part of the Australian Body Art Carnivale, and this year's parade and competition will take place on Sunday 13 May.
As with many of the other competitions for the Carnivale, the theme for 2012 is UNDER THE SEA.
Wearable Art was introduced to the Australian Body Art Carnivale in 2008, with parades showcasing original designs created from reused or secondhand materials.
The Wearable Art focus of the Carnivale is an opportunity to tap into the incredible imagination of established designers, as well as talented 'up and coming' young designers carving their niche in the world of fashion.
Entrants can either create their design independently, or team up with fellow students, friends or colleagues and create a work of wearable art together.
Judges look for creative edge and originality of material, so designers are encouraged to "think outside the square" when brainstorming their wearable art designs.
Creations do not have to be practical or commercially viable; they just have to be WEARABLE. The possibilities are limitless!
