Change of date for Australian Body Art Carnivale

The Australian Body Art Carnivale Committee has announced a change of date for the next Carnivale – from the weekend of September 12 and 13 2009 to the weekend of May 15 and 16 2010.

The change of date will better align Australia's premier body art competition with the world body painting festival, which takes place in July in Seeboden, Austria.

A change of date also enables our fabulous event to become part of Noosa’s May Fiesta calendar, orchestrated by Tourism Noosa.

What to expect in 2010...

2010 will see the third Australian Body Art Carnivale, bringing together cutting-edge artists and designers from far and wide.

The Carnivale will again be ‘A Festival of Colour’ centred around body art in its many and varied forms – from the more readily seen art form of face painting right through to cutting-edge full body painting in the three categories of airbrush, sponge and brush, and special effects.

The Australian Body Art Carnivale provides a unique opportunity for Australia’s top body artists and face painters to compete, and is a springboard for emerging body artists to develop their skills.

For members of the public, it’s phenomenal to watch the human canvases take shape during the competitions. It’s all about creative edge, originality, use of colour, and technical expertise.

In addition to the extraordinary body art, visitors can expect a feast of other entertainment including visual art exhibitions, workshops, pavement art, wearable art, world-class street performers, fabulous food stalls and music to groove to.
